AJU Corporation secures a patent for a concrete composition designed for placement during rainfall

AJU Corporation announced that it has secured a patent for a concrete composition that maintains strength during rainfall, developed through collaborative research with Doosan E&C. The concrete is designed to be placed without compromising quality even under rainfall of up to 6 mm per hour.
 
Recently, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport tightened regulations on concrete work during rain. Concrete work is now fully prohibited when hourly rainfall exceeds 3 mm and allowed only with the approval of the responsible engineer when rainfall is 3 mm or less. In practice, however, forecast inaccuracies and conservative decision-making have often resulted in placement restrictions, disrupting project schedules and causing confusion due to repeated ready-mix concrete orders and cancellations.
 
The newly developed technology incorporates a special chemical admixture to enhance resistance to material segregation, suppress rainwater contamination, and ensure both fluidity and workability. Field applicability was verified through evaluations by an accredited testing institution and full-scale mock-up tests using actual structural members. The results confirmed that the concrete can maintain stable strength even under rainfall of up to 6 mm per hour.

Gwangseon Yang, Senior Executive in the Global Investment Division at AJU IB Investment, has received a Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2025 Venture Startup Promotion Merit Award, in recognition of his contributions to Korea’s venture and startup investment ecosystem.
 
Organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the award honors companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the venture and startup ecosystem and the strengthening of national industrial competitiveness. Yang was recognized for his 25-year career in venture investment, spanning venture fund formation, startup sourcing, capital deployment, and portfolio value creation.
 
Yang joined AJU IB Investment in 2000 and currently serves as lead fund manager for the firm's flagship VC funds: the AJU Good Venture Fund series (1.0, 2.0, and 3.0).
 
Upon receiving the honor, Yang said it reflects not only his own efforts but also the dedication of entrepreneurs and colleagues who have continued to believe in innovation despite uncertainty. He added that he hopes to help create a virtuous cycle whereby the results of innovation are returned to the broader ecosystem.

The ceremony was held on December 3 at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Press Center in Seoul.

AJU Corporation Obtains Certification for Cold-Weather Concrete Precision Production Technology

AJU Corporation has obtained official certification for a newly developed technology that enhances the quality stability of cold-weather concrete used in winter construction.

The certified technology, titled “Precision Production Technology for Cold-Weather Concrete Using Automated Temperature Control and Insulated Mixer Trucks,” combines automated temperature control during production with insulated transportation to ensure consistent concrete quality under low-temperature conditions.

The automated production temperature control system, introduced for the first time in Korea, uses real-time sensors to monitor raw material storage temperatures and automatically adjusts the ratio of hot and cold mixing water to maintain a target production temperature. This minimizes temperature fluctuations and improves consistency in ready-mixed concrete. Insulated mixer trucks further help maintain stable concrete temperatures during transportation to construction sites.

Designed for winter construction environments with average daily temperatures below 4°C, the technology supports cold-weather conditions down to minimum temperatures of −5°C and −10°C. It covers 18 specifications by nominal strength, enhancing on-site applicability.

The technology was previously applied at select construction sites, where its performance was verified. Insulated coatings have also been applied to mixer trucks to reduce heat loss during transportation, improving overall quality reliability.

Kwangseon Park, Executive of the Ready-Mixed Concrete Division at AJU Corporation, was honored with a commendation from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) at the 11th Middle Market Entrepreneur’s Day ceremony. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the growth and competitiveness of Korea's mid-sized enterprises.
 
Park joined AJU Corporation in 1995 as a sales team member and has served in key leadership roles for over 30 years. He has played a pivotal role in advancing technological innovation and improving productivity. Notably, he introduced a slump prediction technology based on mixer load values, which not only enhanced the quality of ready-mixed concrete but also increased hourly production capacity. These improvements ensured on-time delivery and reinforced AJU Corporation's reputation as a trusted partner for multiple construction companies.
 
During periods of material supply shortages, Park helped maintain a stable concrete supply for public housing and national infrastructure projects. He also led the adoption of automated systems, including automatic vehicle washing and aggregate intake management, advancing the company’s ESG initiatives by minimizing environmental impact and fostering sustainable production practices.
